Plastic surgery is the department in the hospital which includes reconstructive and aesthetic procedures to correct defects on the face or body or parts a person is not satisfied with. Plastic surgery can be used for both cosmetic and reconstructive reasons, these words are often used interchangeably to suit the need. Plastic surgery itself is the umbrella term which constitutes all the other reconstructive, aesthetic or cosmetic procedures to address medical reasons and natural appearance of the person. There are two types of plastic surgery. Reconstructive plastic surgery treats parts of the body affected aesthetically or functionally by infection, tumours, disease, congenital defects, developmental abnormalities, or trauma. Aesthetic plastic surgery enhances or reshapes parts of the body.
